About Dr. Gannon J. Watts

Most of my formal education lies in the mental health field. A lot of my experiences are in this area as well as almost 30 years of teaching/educating others at multiple levels and subjects. These experiences, however, are overshadowed by those in the garden and outdoors. My memories and ties to the outdoors started and were ingrained at a young age. I remember picking figs, blackberries, and digging up potatoes with my grandpa in Cameron, Louisiana and exploring the woods with my great aunts in Goodwater, Alabama, picking crabapples, blueberries, black walnuts, and finding a eucalyptus stick to make a toothbrush. Fast forward to today I have developed an orchard with a few types of blueberry bushes, satsumas, a grapefruit tree, several pecan trees, and several fig varieties. My garden area is the home of seven raised beds and a soon to be functioning greenhouse, along with several varieties of passion flowers in containers and in the ground. Although my experiences stretch some 50 years in the past, I feel like my journey has just begun!
